Gail Hinkley Design was proudly featured in the October 2016 issue of Queensland Homes. This beautiful Noosa Waters residence was an entire home design project for Gail, hired by the home's new owners to transform the space. You can see more of this Noosa Waters project here.

It reads:

When Deb and Godfrey Stevens found their ideal holiday home in Noosa, they commissioned Gail Hinkley Design to transform it with the unique coastal style for which Gail and Signature on Hastings are renowned.

Hailing from Melbourne, the Stevens undertook an extensive search to find the perfect location which encompassed expansive water views, was close to everything Noosa is famous for and yet secluded enough to afford them the privacy they were wanting. For them, Noosa Waters ticked all the boxes.

Originally designed and constructed by well known local builder Paul Cooper, this near-new home featured four bedrooms and a large open plan living area which then opened up on to the outdoor area on the water. The outstanding feature of the home’s design is the atrium which flows from the front entry right through to the rear of the property.

Once they took occupation of the property, Paul Cooper was again engaged to build an additional two bedrooms with en suites, both located upstairs and accessed via a glass-sided bridge across the atrium.

With so much light and framed vistas to the open plan living space, it was important that this area makes a strong visual statement. To create that wow factor Gail used black and white furniture, artwork and accessories with clever detailing to accentuate the already impressive space. The connections between the rooms made colour and contrast a central theme carried throughout the home. The focus of the dining area was one of the acquired pieces from the previous owners, a large tree trunk table top which was beautiful but not very functional, a sheet of plate glass solved the problem of functionality and retained the talking point of the table. The bedroom furnishings and accessories, while maintaining the same general theme, are presented in softer and more restful tones.

Both Gail and the Stevens family are delighted with the results – a truly timeless and impressive home.

Gail Hinkley has owned and operated the iconic Signature on Hastings, Noosa’s most well-known homewares store, for over 25 years. Her interior design work has seen her undertaking projects from Airlie Beach in North Queensland all the way down to Melbourne.
